2nd Annual S'port Up! program underway
KTA Super Stores shoppers can help their favorite high school team win big

Big Island, Hawaii - February 25, 2008 – KTA Super Stores, along with Hawaiian Airlines and Sports Line, have teamed up again for a six-week promotion to help high school athletic programs across the island.  The program, which runs from February 28th - April 8th, is aimed at raising funds for all participating Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) high schools.  In its inaugural year, KTA Super Stores donated over $50,000 to the schools.

Last year, Robert Wagner, Athletic Director of Kamehameha Schools signed up his school.  “The program was very positive from our school’s standpoint.  It was well managed and organized.  With the funds we purchased much-needed equipment and helped get our soccer program off the ground.  We’re looking forward to this year’s program and hope to see it grow with more parent involvement.”

“We are extremely excited to kick off another year of this great program, which not only gives back to the community financially, but also brings the community together in helping our local schools,” says Tracey Yamane, KTA Super Stores’ Marketing Manager.

Shoppers can get involved by purchasing participating products from vendors such as Coca-Cola, Frito Lay, Gatorade, Kellogg’s, ConAgra Foods, General Mills, Banana Boat, Hawaiian Sun, Love’s, and Procter & Gamble. By simply writing the corresponding school number of their favorite school on the back of their receipt and returning to the store, shoppers help their schools accumulate points.  Points can be put toward travel and equipment expenses, with each participating school receiving at least $500 ($250 for travel, $250 for equipment).
